LMUexcellent

With its LMUexcellent overall strategy, LMU pursues the goal of further improving the framework conditions for outstanding research achievements as part of its funding as a University of Excellence.

Funding lines

The investment fund offers scientists start-up financing for acquiring larger third-party funding projects for innovative research ideas and establishing new fields of research.

Application guide for investment funds (GER)

The Young Researchers Fund promotes the career development of young scientists up to six years after their doctorate by supporting them in independently acquiring externally funded and peer-reviewed research projects, in particular young researcher awards.

It offers two lines of funding: start-up funding for preparatory work on a third-party funding application, and “sabbaticals” to enable applicants to concentrate on their application project.

Please note that postdocs require one internal and one external letter of reference. These may be waived only if postdocs are heads of an externally funded research group (e.g., Emmy Noether, ERC Starting Grant, or similar); a completed habilitation is not sufficient for this purpose.

The Knowledge Transfer Fund provides start-up financing for projects that aim to develop research results into technological, social, and economic innovations.
